Snow Elves

Snow elves look very similar to their temperate cousins, but they are slightly smaller (50 + 1D10 inches for males, 45 + 1D10 inches for females) and weigh less (70 + 3D10 lbs. for males, 50 + 3D10 lbs. for females). Their skin is stark white, and it glints in the sun like snow. Their ears stick out from their heads more than other elves, and they have snow white hair and white or gray eyes.

PERSONALITY:

Snow elves are much more mischievous than other elves. They will tend to be the pranksters and troublemakers in any group, and most will prefer to be thieves rather than warriors. Snow elves are also very possessive, partly because of the hardships they are forced to endure in their sub-arctic homeland. Anyone who tries to take something away from a snow elf is asking for a fight. Finally, more than any other elf, snow elves believe they are the perfect race. They even treat other elves as inferiors.

LIFESTYLE:

Snow elves live in the coldest regions of the continent of Hobus. Most of their cities are carved out of solid ice. They have little contact with outsiders, and thus have to make do with what they themselves can produce. They have a caste system similar to that used by other elves.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY:

Snow elves use weapons similar to those used by humans of cold climates. They love ranged weapons, particularly the longbow.

Ice Crossbow: (Damage 1D6/1D4 +1, Speed 6, Type B, Range 4/8/12) This miniature hand held catapult hurls large bullets of solid ice. The bullets shatter on impact, inflicting 1D4 -1 damage to everything in a 5' radius.

Ice Flask: (Damage 1D2 per round, Speed 4, Type Freezing, Range 1/2/3) Each of these tiny flasks is filled with salt water and ash and is kept beneath one's robes until needed. It shatters on impact (saves vs. crushing blow at 16, +4 if a soft target), soaking the target and inflicting 1D2 points of damage per round as it freezes. If splashed in the face (Save vs. breath weapon) the target is blinded.

Throwing Stones: (Damage 1D6 -1/1D6 -1, Speed 3, Type B, Range 1/2/3) Made by packing ice around a small stone, these small weapons have a 5% chance of knockout per point of damage inflicted.

Bola: (Damage 1D4/1D3, Speed 6, Type B, Range 2/4/6) Bolas are swung in a circle over the head and then thrown at an opponent. The opponent must then make a save vs. paralysis or become entangled. A strength check will set them free. A called shot will enable the thrower to entangle the legs (cannot move), arms (cannot use weapons), or throat (works like a garrote).

Boomerang: (Damage 1D3 +1/1D4 +1, Speed 3, Type B, Range 2/5/10) These weapons of the plains are becoming very popular in snow elf circles. A successful dexterity check will cause the boomerang to return to the thrower if it misses.
