Lotarus
Shana and Malice worked together to make Lotarus. It is the most displaced of all the continental regions, lying some 2 month's sail from Jisticks, Hobus, or Hodar. Very few explorers come this far, though some sailors from Lotarus are confident enough to attempt the long voyage.
Most of the nations on Lotarus are unaware of the outside world. They will be suspicious of anyone who claims to be from another continental region. The few that are aware of the other regions will gladly welcome strangers from these lands, and will be eager to learn of their adventures.
The Nations of Lotarus:
KERON
CAPITAL: Rohan
MAIN POPULACE: Human and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Keronish*, Gobbely*, Common, Heloponiphisian+, Celanillan+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Lawful Good
GOVERNMENT: Monarchy
ALLIES: Heloponiphis, Celanill
GEOGRAPHY: A tiny island in the southwest corner of this region, Keron is shaped roughly like Australia. The southern half of the island is covered by a vast plain, while the northern half is covered in a tropical forest. There is a small mountain chain near the center of the island, but the mountains are small and low. Ancient rivers wind slowly through the entire island.
CLIMATE: The entire region lies in a tropical zone and is full of damp forests, swamps, and jungles. Though Keron has one of the milder climates in Lotarus, it is still warm and wet compared to most of the other regions of the world.
POLITICS: Keron has nothing to worry about from other nations because it is slightly isolated from the aggressive nations of Lotarus. They are currently in the process of mapping the rest of the world; they have located all the other regions except Misk and Bristar.
TRADE: Keron has many goods to offer, as their society is at a level of sophistication similar to 17th- or 18th- century Spain. Their ships are far beyond anything any other nation on Lotarus is capable of producing, but are rarely sold.
HELOPONIPHIS
CAPITAL: Shimatrazan
MAIN POPULACE: Gnomes and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Heloponiphisian*, Gobbley*, Celanillan, Common, Keronish+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Good
GOVERNMENT: Republic
ALLIES: Keron, Celanill
GEOGRAPHY: Heloponiphis is built into a mountain chain on the west side of the peninsula that runs south between Keron and Tibera. The surface of this area is ruled by Goblin- kin who are incredibly aggressive, but they are superstitious and believe the Gnomes to posses magical powers. Underground rivers flow through the soft rocks in this area.
CLIMATE: All but identical to that of Keron. Most of the continents in this region have very similar climates.
POLITICS: Heloponiphis also has no real enemies. Their unusual ships are quite capable of traversing the long ocean distances between them and the other regions of the world.
TRADE: The Gnomes of Heloponiphis trade openly with all people.
CELANILL
CAPITAL: Alieagentry
MAIN POPULACE: Elves and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Celanillan*, Gerifulish*, Gobbley*, Common, Heloponiphisian+, Keronish+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Lawful Good
GOVERNMENT: Monarchy
ALLIES: Geriful, Heloponiphis, Keron
GEOGRAPHY: On the southwest corner of the western continent is a small forest, which the Elves have claimed as their own. There is a major river flowing down the center of the nation, and the tip of their peninsula ends in a series of small islands.
CLIMATE: Much warmer and wetter than Keron. Celanill is much closer to the equator and thus has a more tropical climate than the southern nations.
POLITICS: Like Keron and Heloponiphis, Celanill has no enemy nations to defend itself from. As a result they have turned their attention to other interests, like sailing. Though they have yet to leave this continental region, Celanillan sailors have mapped all of Lotarus.
TRADE: Celanill will attempt to trade with almost anyone.
GERIFUL
CAPITAL: Salmonta
MAIN POPULACE: Halflings and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Gerifulish*, Gobbley*, Common, Celanillan+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Neutral
GOVERNMENT: Republic
ALLIES: Celanill
GEOGRAPHY: The Halflings of Geriful occupy the northern plains of Megrasis, the continent which holds the Elven and Gnomish kingdoms. It is a small, hilly nation with a forest to the west that they have no interest in exploring.
CLIMATE: Hot and dry, it would be a desert if it didn’t receive a rainstorm about once a month. Still, the country is reasonably pleasant and there are vast underground streams for drinking and irrigation.
POLITICS: Geriful has little contact with the outside world, and then only from Elven traders from Celanill. Geriful has no port cities and is all but inaccessible from the sea. The Halflings have no interest in learning to sail.
TRADE: Geriful will trade with anyone who is willing to come to one of their cities.
TIBERA
CAPITAL: Huma
MAIN POPULACE: Human and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Tiberan*, Sebrasish*, Gobbley, Common+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Neutral Good
GOVERNMENT: Monarchy
ALLIES: None
GEOGRAPHY: Tibera is a small, wishbone- shaped island east of Megrasis. There is a small tropical forest near the center of the island, but the rest is a vast plain.
CLIMATE: About the same as Keron, but a little warmer.
POLITICS: Tibera is at war with Sebrasis, their neighbor to the east. They have poor sailing ships and thus have had little or no contact with other nations.
TRADE: Though technologically behind most other nations, Tibera will trade with anyone who is willing other than Sebrasis.
SEBRASIS
CAPITAL: Dumass
MAIN POPULACE: Humans and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Sebrasish*, Tiberan*, Gobbley, Common+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Neutral Evil
GOVERNMENT: Monarchy
ALLIES: None
GEOGRAPHY: Sebrasis lies east of Tibrea on a small island. The eastern half of the island is covered by a vast plain, while the western half is a thick, tropical forest.
CLIMATE: Identical to Tibera.
POLITICS: For their tendency to capture Felinar and use them as slaves, Sebrasis was prohibited from trading with Tibera. When the slaves were later sold to Tiberan merchants, and then escaped and went on a brief killing spree, the two nations went to war. Sebrasis feels their policy is sound, provided the proper precautions are taken. Tibera sees this as a threat to their national security.
TRADE: Sebrasis trades only in slaves. Business has slowed down considerably since Tibera closed its borders.
SHOMA
CAPITAL: None
MAIN POPULACE: Humans, Wemic, and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Gobbely*, Werhem*, various barbarian tongues
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Neutral
GOVERNMENT: Various Tribes
ALLIES: None
GEOGRAPHY: North of Sebrasis lies the island of Shoma. Most of the island is plains, with a tropical forest in the southeast. Shoma is broken up into three major islands and several smaller ones.
CLIMATE: Identical to Tibera, though in the southeast it is hotter and wetter.
POLITICS: Shoma is a land of Barbarian nomads. Though primarily populated with Humans, Wemics, Gnolls, and other things, there are quite a few Tabaxi and Thri- Kreen in this area as well. Sebrasisan slavers come here often looking for new "acquisitions".
TRADE: Most of the trade in Shoma is between tribes. Very little is ever transported off this island, except of course for slaves.
GYRA
CAPITAL: None
MAIN POPULACE: Felinar
LANGUAGES: Felinar*
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Neutral
GOVERNMENT: Anarchy
ALLIES: None
GEOGRAPHY: Gyra is a small jungle island east of Sebrasis. Aside from a small cluster of mountains in the center of the island, the island is flat and completely covered in jungle.
CLIMATE: Hotter and wetter than its neighbors, but not too much so.
POLITICS: The Felinar of Gyra live in a kind of Non- Society: while they have discovered steel, armor, weapons and tools, they do not live together in cities so that every member of the society can benefit from this. Instead, they live on their own, hunting the dinosaurs which dwell here. Humans and Demihumans are considered easy prey.
TRADE: Like Shoma, Felinar only trade with each other. Though slavers come here often, they rarely return.
TORASIA
CAPITAL: Sarroo
MAIN POPULACE: Wolfen and Goblin- kin
LANGUAGES: Torasian*, Gobbely*, Common+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Lawful Evil
GOVERNMENT: Monarchy
ALLIES: None
GEOGRAPHY: Torasia is a small tear- shaped island covered in a lush, tropical forest. Rivers cut through the continent and there is a small mountain chain on the eastern coast. Like many islands on Lotarus, Torasia is broken up into several smaller islands.
CLIMATE: Identical to Keron in almost every way.
POLITICS: Torasia knows about the other nations on Lotarus, but has no way to reach them. They are learning to sail but until they are successful they will remain a minor threat to the rest of the world. They feel it is their right to avenge themselves of the wrongs Humanity has dealt them.
TRADE: Torasia will not trade with any Human or Demihuman race, but will gladly trade with those they think have also been wronged by humanity. This includes Minotaurs, Nightmares (but not Centaurs), and Wemics.
DORO
CAPITAL: Duren
MAIN POPULACE: Dwarves, Goblin- kin, and Drow
LANGUAGES: Doroan*, Gobbely*, Darkspeak, Common+
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Good
GOVERNMENT: Monarchy
ALLIES: None
GEOGRAPHY: Doro is in a small country on the easternmost continent of Lotarus. It lies deep beneath a small cluster of mountains in the midst of a thick jungle. Vast underground lakes and rivers have carved out huge caverns which Dwarves and Drow alike find ideal.
CLIMATE: Identical to Keron.
POLITICS: The Dwarves of Doro are primarily concerned with uncovering their long lost empire of Horin. The largest known collection of ancient Dwarven cities lies north of Doro. Unfortunately it is crawling with monsters and is completely inaccessible.
TRADE: Doro will trade with anyone, but mostly in weapons and armor.
SHISTANIS
CAPITAL: Shistanis
MAIN POPULACE: Human
LANGUAGES: Shistanisan*
NATIONAL ALIGNMENT: Neutral Good
GOVERNMENT: Republic
ALLIES: None
GEOGRAPHY: Shistanis lies on the bottom of the ocean, about halfway between Shoma and the Broken Isles. A magical bubble of air covers the town and some of the land around it, about ten miles. The forests around the town are moderately thick and full of game.
CLIMATE: The area around Shistanis remains about 70° all year round. Though light showers sometimes fall, there are no heavy rains on Shistanis ever.
POLITICS: Shistanis is unaware of the outside world.
TRADE: None
THE BROKEN ISLES
This area is worth mentioning because it is so unusual. Though they lie on the equator, the broken isles are covered with ice and snow year round. There is no rational explanation for this; there must be some powerful spell over the entire area. The shifting isles of ice make sailing through this region all but impossible; worse yet, there is a thick fog over the place almost year round. The Shrine of Barsitia on this treacherous land is the only sign that Humans have ever set foot here. The shrine is rumored to hold something wonderful, but no one is sure what that is.
