How to please your God
Okay, all you folks out there who love clerics, this page is for you.
I'll start off with a word or two about Kyron the Gods themselves:
Kyron is the name of the plane where the Gods live. It's basically a lot like Karion, only much bigger (infinite, actually). Each God has his or her own private place on the plane, like a continent all to themselves. These continents are divided into three main areas: Artariia, the land of light; Dorariia, the land of darkness; and Kateriia, the land of twilight. This by no means comprises all of Kyron; just the known parts of it. Beyond these lands is a vast area of uncharted land known as the Beyond. After this is rumored to be a vast ocean, and beyond that, no one knows (even the Gods themselves).
Of course, the Gods cannot travel to Karion in their ordinary forms, they're simply to powerful. Instead, they create avatars for interacting with the prime material plane. These avatars are like a shadow of the God and contain a tiny fraction of the God's power. When people speak of being "visited by the Gods", they really mean the God's avatar. Likewise, people who foolishly attack an avatar are making a big mistake because even if they kill it, the real God remains unharmed. Only a God may harm another God.
Fortunately, there are rules regarding the use of the avatars. Gods cannot simply run around destroying their mortal enemies. Unless directly attacked, or unless the God has been forced to temporarily reside in the prime material plane, the avatar cannot harm any mortal being. Avatars cannot interfere with the day-to-day lives of the people of Karion. Finally, no God can have avatars on Karion for more than 24 hours out of every month. If more than one avatar is present, then the total of all the avatars is added together. For example, 3 avatars sent to Karion for 5 hours = 3 x 5 = 15 hours total spent.
Each God has a lot of statistics, so to make my own life easier I'm going to use these abbreviations:
AL = Alignment |
AoC = Area of Control |
WAL = Worshiper's alignment |
THAC0 = To Hit AC 0 (duh) |
PAL = Priest's alignment |
HP = Hit Points (again, duh) |
SY = Symbol |
MV = Movement |
Str = Strength |
# AT = Number of attacks |
Dex = Dexterity |
Dmg. = Damage |
Con = Constitution |
AB = Ability scores |
Int = Intelligence |
MR = Magic Resistance |
Wis = Wisdom |
WPN = Weapons allowed |
Cha = Charisma |
AR = Armor restrictions |
AC = Armor Class |
SP = Spheres of priest spells* |
HD = Hit Dice |
PW = Powers** |
SZ = Size |
TU = Turn Undead ability |
* an asterisk (*) indicates minor access only.
** Once per day unless noted otherwise
Also, all Gods have these powers: Totally immortal, can communicate with any being, can grant powers and spells to priests at appropriate levels, in avatar form can use any spell.
Finally, there are two types of Gods, each of which has slightly different powers:
GREATER GODS CAN:
INTERMEDIATE GODS CAN:
Anyway, on to the Gods themselves:
